Concerned Black Men National (CBM) provides guidance, support and encouragement to children, while stabilizing families, positioning them to lead healthy, productive lives. The organization was founded in 1975 by five Philadelphia police officers who wanted to provide enrichment activities for kids who were at risk of gang violence. CBM is becoming one of the nation’s most effective service organizations for youth and families. Our “best practice” evidenced-based programs have received national recognition and helped hundreds of children, youth and parents.
The Communications Extern should possess the following qualities:
Position Summary: The Communications extern reports to the Communications Coordinator 2-3 days per week for 3-4 hours per day or completes project assignments per week. Task will range from data collection, research, data entry, direct marketing calls to editing documents and communicating with vendors. The ideal candidate should be computer literate, sensible and able to exercise keen judgment. The communications Extern may be required to make a large volume of calls, take notes and conduct 2-3 hours of Internet research per day. The Extern must be able to commit to a minimum of one semester with the organization. Opportunity to extend the position to a second semester and/or the summer is available upon request and External review.
The ideal candidate should be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a communications, public relations, social services, data science, journalism or an English field. A 2.0 minimum grade point average is required to be considered for the position. The extern must possess a high level of computer literacy and familiarity with online research, Microsoft Office products and various social media platforms. The extern should be self-motivated and possess very good verbal and written communication skills to be considered.
