Support CBM

by admin last modified 2006-10-08 03:11 AM

Thank you for your interest in joining Concerned Black Men, Inc. (CBM)

Since 1975, CBM has convened people of good will to support and nurture African American youths. Through a nationwide network of chapters and an experienced staff, we have created a variety of programs that help young people overcome life’s challenges to become productive and responsible citizens. With the help of people like you, CBM will continue its tradition of “Caring for Our Youth.”

Presently, CBM has 29 chapters in cities around the country (including a chapter in Pretoria, South Africa). If you want to join the movement to reclaim our youths and community, please consider joining a CBM chapter in your locality. Go to “Chapters” on this web site and see if there is a local chapter that you might join. If interested, please contact the chapter. If you have difficulty reaching the local contact person, please call our National Office toll free at 1-888 395-7816 or e-mail us at info@cbmnational.org and we will be happy to help you reach that local chapter. If there is no local chapter in your community, you may wish to start a CBM chapter in your city, county or state. If you desire to start a new chapter, please call us and request a CBM Chapter Membership Packet. Please expect a call from our National Membership Chair or the Coordinator of Volunteer Services to assist you in this process. If you do not hear from our National Membership Chair promptly, please feel free to contact us directly.

We look forward to hearing from you!

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN CBM

  1. MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT UPON THE LIVES OF OUR YOUTH. Have you ever reacted to negative news about African American youth by saying “I wish I could do something to change this distressing news”? Become a CBM member and have a positive impact upon your community.

  2. BUILD YOUTH SELF-ESTEEM, CONFIDENCE & EXCELLENCE. With over 30 years of community service, CBM has a proven track record with such activities as its Youth Recognition Awards Banquet, College Tours, Teen Pregnancy Prevention Strategies, and other programs.

  3. REVERSE THE TIDE OF BLACK-ON-BLACK VIOLENCE. Redirect the energies of the adolescent community through mentoring and volunteerism. Teach them that “men build institutions” and do not engage in self-destructive behavior.

  4. DEFINE MANHOOD. We must have definitions of manhood which define our own reality. Your active participation in CBM helps to create a positive image of Black men.

  5. ADVANCE COMMUNITY AWARENESS & SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. The work of CBM members in the community always attracts the attention of others and makes them aware of the need for social commitment.

  6. DESIGN YOUR OWN CBM PROGRAMS. CBM provides suggestions and ideas, and you can help to create new programs based on your community’s needs.

  7. VOLUNTEERS GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY. Your talents are solely needed; its time to share your skills with our youth. We no longer can depend on the next guy to do the job.

  8. ATONEMENT AND THE MILLION MAN MARCH. As a CBM member, you keep the mandates of the March alive.
