Fatherhood Initiatives

by Leroy Hughes last modified 2009-11-05 05:23 PM

The overall purpose of the CBM Fatherhood Initiative is to enhance effective and responsible fathering through parenting education and economic stability.

The purpose of the CBM Fatherhood Initiative is to:

1.) Improve parenting practices including those relating to limit setting, discipline, parental efficacy and family organization;

2.) To enhance co-parenting among couples participating in the project as measured by the project's pre and post test evaluation;

3.) To reduce father-partner conflict among couples completing the project as measured by the project's pre and post test evaluation.

These goals are achieved through Parent Education, Family Skills Training, Parenting Group Rap Sessions, Father Mentoring, Short term counseling and mediation and referrals to mental health, substance abuse, domestic abuse and other prevention type services.

The CBM Fatherhood Initiative is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration of Children and Families and the District of Columbia, Department of Human Services (DHS).
