Philadelphia 76ers and Berkshire Hathaway Affiliate Invest in CBM Kids

Washington, DC – Concerned Black Men’s CBM CARES® Philadelphia Mentoring Initiative spent the day hearing career advice from Philadelphia 76ers executives and personnel on May 18, 2018. The event is a group mentoring session which seeks to groom CBM CARES® middle school boys for corporate careers and reinforce good business etiquette.FullSizeRender2

Led by Program Manager, Martin Jackson, CBM CARES® Philadelphia boys will visited Philadelphia 76er’s facilities to hear career talks by C-suite executives. They will also have an opportunity to meet sports heroes and enjoy a working lunch. The event is part of the CBM CARES® Philadelphia Job Shadow Day in which mentees have an opportunity to learn about a specific industry, career, or enterprise.

Transportation to the event will be sponsored by Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, Berkadia. The affiliate provides real estate solutions for the life cycle of commercial and residential properties. CBM National is grateful for the leadership that Berkadia and the Philadelphia 76ers have taken to support opportunities for boys of color in the CBM CARES® National Mentoring Initiative in Philadelphia.

CBM CARES® is a national multi-site program that mentors boys of color via school-based group and one-to-tone mentoring. The program seeks to increase school attachment; improving scholastic achievement; fostering positive community integration and mastering personal leadership.
