Seminars and workshops will include topics such as the following:

  • Designing and Planning Your Mentoring Program  
    What are the basic and necessary components of a successful mentoring program? Whether you have a new or existing program, you need to understand the principles of planning, managing, operating and evaluating a successful mentoring program. This workshop will help you improve your mentoring program. 
  • Special Presenter: Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu, AfricanAmerican Images, Inc.
    Noted Author and Lecturer shares his ideas of how the African Americancommunity can improve the lives of Black Boys and young men.      
  • Effective Strategies for Recruiting and Retaining Volunteers 
    What motivates people, especially men, to become mentors? How do you reach the best potential mentors and keep them engaged? Are there proven principles to finding and retaining mentors? Do you have a recruitment plan to ensure success? We will offer a host of proven strategies to help you overcome the challenge of recruiting and retaining mentors.   
  • Mentoring to Improve the Academic and Cognitive Skills of Youths     
    Can mentoring be used to help students achieve in the classroom? If so, how do mentors help their mentees improve academically while avoid being viewed as teacher and disciplinarian? Learn more about youth development principles and mentoring from our expert panel.
