Solomon, Maryland – Concerned Black Men of Calvert County extends an open invitation to the community to attend their Tenth Annual ‘Gala by the Bay’ Scholarship Banquet, being held June 2nd at the Holiday Inn Select in Solomons, Maryland.
This annual scholarship fundraiser is a lively fun-filled night honoring students who will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. This year four Calvert County high school students will be awarded scholarships for use at the college or university of their choice.
The Concerned Black Men of Calvert County’s annual scholarship fundraiser is one of many programs that provide needed resources in order to bridge the achievement gap that is facing many minorities in their pursuit of higher education.
Donation, which includes a reception with hors d’oeuvres and full service sit down dinner, is $65. Reception begins at 6:00 PM and the program/event starts at 7 p.m. Live Entertainment will be provided by the “Exquisite Band”. Tickets will not be available at the door. Concerned Black Men, Inc. (CBM) was founded in 1975, when 5 African-American police officers organized to provide enrichment activities for Philadelphia area youth. Today, CBM National conducts “best-practice” youth prevention programs in the Nation’s Capital. Additionally, its 29 chapters offer a variety of projects and activities such as oratory contests, mentoring, youth conferences, college tours and other opportunities for youth throughout the country.
